The EzRay Air is a lightweight, handheld portable X-ray system designed to improve diagnostic mobility in the dental operatory. It is notably recognized for its “Carbon Nano Tube” (CNT) technology, which allows for a significantly lighter build and more stable radiation output compared to traditional portable units.

Key Features

  • Carbon Nano Tube (CNT) Technology: Unlike traditional X-ray tubes that use a filament, CNT technology allows for instant and precise exposure control, reducing the weight of the internal components and improving the battery’s efficiency.

  • Ultralight Design: It is one of the lightest handheld units on the market, weighing approximately 1.5 kg to 1.8 kg, which minimizes wrist fatigue for the clinician during high-volume imaging.

  • Double Scatter Shielding: Features an internal lead lining and an external “backscatter” shield to protect the operator from secondary radiation, ensuring high safety standards for handheld use.

  • Intuitive Interface: Equipped with a digital display and pre-programmed settings for different tooth types (molars, incisors, etc.) and patient sizes (adult/pediatric).

  • Long-Lasting Battery: High-capacity lithium-polymer battery capable of hundreds of exposures on a single charge.

Clinical Advantages

  • Enhanced Mobility: Perfect for multi-operatory clinics, pediatric patients who may be frightened by large wall-mounted units, or for use in mobile dentistry and outreach programs.

  • Workflow Integration: Allows the clinician to remain in the room with the patient during exposure (following local safety protocols), which is particularly helpful for stabilizing sensors in patients with high gag reflexes.

  • Consistent Image Quality: The stable tube voltage (typically 60kV) and current (2.5mA) provide sharp, high-contrast images compatible with all digital sensors and PSP plates.
